Adam Islam

The way typography was used in this illustration has inspired me. Adam has used this unique style to show the text in his book.

Quotes From The Jungle Book

Quotes from The Jungle Book that shows adoption and Caring

“How little! How naked, and—how bold!” said Mother Wolf softly. The baby was pushing his way between the cubs to get close to the warm hide. “Ahai! He is taking his meal with the others. And so this is a man’s cub. Now, was there ever a wolf that could boast of a man’s cub among her children?”

“But it is true. He is such a man-cub as never was,” said Baloo. “The best and wisest and boldest of man- cubs—my own pupil, who shall make the name of Baloo famous through all the jungles; and besides, I—we—love him, Kaa.”

“The Wolves are a free people,” said Father Wolf. “They take orders from the Head of the Pack, and not from any striped cattle-killer. The man’s cub is ours—to kill if we choose.

First & Second Attempt

First attempt
As you can see my first attempt wasn't successful, but from this attempt I learnt how to express myself when it comes to painting.

Style
The style is very different, its not the usual paint and brush. I was inspired by the work of Russ Mills.

How I created it
I used black watercolour paint and a piece of card. I brushed paint over a piece card and I then used the card to spread paint across the paper. This gave me this messy effect and it also gave me this scratchy feeling to the image.

Russ Mills

Style
The style is very unique. I think he produced this illustration by free-hand drawing. Overall I think this piece of artwork is excellent. I recreated a section from his work to see how he has produced this style.

How he created it
By looking closely at his artwork, I noticed there are lines which are parallel and a
few geometric shapes. He probably used a piece of card and some black acrylic paint to spread the paint across the paper.

Style
This is another piece of Russ Mills artwork. The style is very similar to the one above, but this piece has inspired me more. I created hand-drawn illustration in a very similar style to his.

How he created it
In this illustration he probably used acrylic paint and a brush. He might also used a piece of card to spread the paint across the surface of the paper.
